Tai Chi Classes. Tai Chi has many health benefits and is a wonderful way to enjoy developing your fitness through gentle movements which can increase your flexibility and balance and is suitable for all ages and abilities.

The following weekly classes have been organised in Griffydam:

Time: 18.00-19.00 pm
Venue: Griffydam School, Top Road, Griffydam
Cost: £ 4.00 per hour PAYG or £3 per block booking 
Equipment: Wear loose comfortable clothing with soft flexible shoes or trainers

Griffydam Running Group. Join Bev for a run at 8.00 sharp, rain or shine, every Tuesday. Meet outside 26 Top Road. All levels and ability. Everyone welcome.

Wear running shoes and warm comfortable attire.

Pilates Classes are now available in the village every Tuesday evening with a qualified Pilates instructor and from the 6th June will be held at Griffydam Primary School on Top Road, Griffydam.

 All sessions are suitable for beginners to intermediates.

 Bring a mat.

 Please speak to Una before the session about any medical issues that need to be taken into consideration during the session.

 Una Lacey is a UK Athletics Coach and a Level 2 BTF Coach.

 Una Lacey holds an up to date DBS and First Aid Certificate.

Free Speed Limit Bin Stickers Available. The police have provided Griffydam with 40mph and 30mph bin stickers for use on Rempstone Road & Top Road. The stickers are a great reminder to drivers of the speed limits and have proved very successful in nearby villages to help slow down the traffic.

Griffydam's Planting Competition 2017.  Congratulations to Robert Ward winner of this year's Borlotti Bean Competition. Robert produced an amazing 180 bean pods followed closely by Cliff and Judith Darby with 176 pods and in joint 3rd place was Bob Robinson & family and Dave & Pam Greenfield with 104 pods. Many thanks to Woodlands Garden Centre & Nurseries for kindly donating the prize.

NWL Local Sport Alliance Award. We were delighted to be shortlisted for the Community category of the North West Leicestershire Local Sports Alliance Awards 2016. The nomination made by NWLDC was in recognition of the keep active events we have organised in the community such as walking groups, cycling and Pilates etc. Representatives George Denoon and Sylvia Armiger from the Griffydam Community Group were presented with the runners up certificate at the awards ceremony on the 3 November. Speed Sign. We are delighted that the portable Flashing Speed sign has been erected for the first time on Rempstone Road. 


After a long process of negotiation, the Speed sign, approved by the County Council and funded by the Parish Council, will be moved around Griffydam, Worthington and Newbold.

Many thanks to the volunteers who will be erecting the sign around the 3 villages.
